How to change your name in Zoom

Steps

1. Change Your Name in the Zoom Desktop App

1. Sign In

Open the Zoom desktop app.
Sign in with your Zoom account.

2. Open Settings

Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Settings.

3. Go to the Profile Section

In the left menu, select Profile.

4. Edit Your Profile

There are two methods:

Option A: Edit within Zoom

Click Edit My Profile.
A web browser will open automatically.

Option B: Open Profile Directly in Browser

Click My Profile.
This also opens your profile page in the Zoom web portal.

2. Update Your Name in the Zoom Web Portal

1. Edit Your Name

In the web browser window that opened, sign in if prompted.
On your Zoom profile page, click Edit next to your name.
Update your First Name, Last Name, and Display Name as needed.
Click Save.

Troubleshooting

Name Changes Not Saving

Ensure you are logged into the correct Zoom account.
Clear browser cache and retry.
Some organisations restrict name changes — contact IT if the option is locked.

Name Not Updating in a Meeting

Leave the meeting and rejoin.
Check if the host has locked the ability to rename participants.
Ensure your Display Name is updated in the Zoom portal.
